Bioplastics are not just one single material. They comprise of a whole family of materials with different properties and applications. According to European Bioplastics, a plastic material is defined as a bioplastic if it is either biobased, biodegradable, or features both properties.
Bioplastics are biobased, biodegradable, or both.

There are two major European certification brands:
TÜV AUSTRIA and DINCERTCO are certified organization authorized by Europerean comunity fore assign the seedling logo to products compliant with EN14432. With the assignment of the OK compost the products are recognizes throughout in all European market.
OK BIOBASED

The OK BIOBASED label, founded by Vincotte and currently managed by TUV AUTRIA, uses a star system to indicate the biobased content of certified product: more stars the label bears, greater is the biobased content. This labeling program applies to raw material ,intermediates and finished products which are composed of at least 30% carbon and which contain 20% biobased carbon. The OK BIOBASED certification, valid for 5 years, does not imply that the product is biodegradable or compostable.
